The Melbourne-based producer said the transfer of 328,000 barrels was achieved on schedule and represented a "significant milestone" for the company.

Preliminary testing suggested both quality and quantity were to specification, the company added.

"The API gravity for the Puffin Crude oil was calculated at 43.6 which correspond with the previously published API. Puffin crude oil sells at a premium to the APPI Tapis benchmark," AED said.

"The offloading to the Mayon Spirit trading tanker was achieved in very good time, taking just 15 hours."

Now the company plans to finish commissioning the facility, which was put on before the offloading.

Once completed, it will test the wells and optimise production.

The next offtake is scheduled for mid November.

Meanwhile, the company is using the Wilcraft Premium rig to drill the Puffin-10 well, in the Puffin South West area.

"Drilling of the well is on schedule and is currently drilling at a depth of 2003 metres," AED said.

"It is expected that the 9 5-8 casing point will be reached mid week."

The well is designed to penetrate the Upper Cretaceous (UK1a) sands, where AED is aiming to complete a 200m horizontal section of reservoir interval.

Production from Puffin-10 will be directed through the Modec Venture (MV1) FPSO, once the Puffin South West field comes online in the first half of next year.
