However, BHP Billiton said it was so far unable to bring its Griffin oil and gas project back online due to rough seas caused by the cyclone.
The 10,600-barrel-per-day Griffin project, which is part-owned by ExxonMobil, has been offline since March 25, after it was threatened by category four Cyclone Glenda.
Woodside spokesperson Kirsten Stoney told Energy Review.net that production had restarted production from the Ocean Legend production facility, following reconnection on Sunday. She said the company was now reconnecting the Cossack-Pioneer facility, which produces 100,000 bopd.
“The Cossack Pioneer has reconnected to the riser and is expected to resume oil production either late today (Monday) or early tomorrow (Tuesday),” she said.
Meanwhile, Santos returned its 40,000-bpd Mutineer-Exeter oil platform to full production yesterday afternoon.
This morning, Roc Oil announced that the BHP-operated Jacala-1 wildcat exploration well in WA 351P has restarted drilling operations for the third time due to the recent cyclone activity. The well is now expected to take about seven days to reach a total depth of 2322 metres.
Hubert was north-western Australia’s fifth tropical cyclone this year, bringing the number to the total forecast by Bureau of Meteorology for the November-April season.
