1st shipment of PNG-bound refinery equipment departs Texas: InterOil

The first major shipment of refinery equipment for InterOil's refinery site in Papua New Guinea, ...

"The first shipment and its arrival in PNG is the culmination of several years of continued effort to realise PNG's first refinery and a clear demonstration of InterOil's commitment and dedication to this enterprise and to Papua New Guinea," said InterOil's general manager of projects, Alexander Nairn.

The refining equipment has been refurbished from a decommissioned North American refinery.

InterOil said the project, which is expected to be completed by next year's fourth quarter, should attract a stream of new projects. The company added that combined with a proposed tax reform in the oil and gas exploration area, PNG could once again become a regional leader.
