Thanks to Gocerler, Amity has become Turkey's newest and second largest producer of gas. Gocerler gas is replacing mainly Russian imported gas with present sales volume of about 4.3 million cubic feet per day, which is expected to increase to around 10 mmcfd by mid-year.
Amity Oil added its goal is to reach full capacity of 30 mmcfd as quickly as possible.
The company said it plans to drill a third well, Gocerler-3, later this month as part of an aggressive seismic and drilling program planned for 2002 and 2003.
Turkey is considered a very attractive location for gas production due to high demand, good gas prices, shallow reservoirs and low capital costs.
Currently, gas suppliers in Turkey charge $US4.70 per thousand cubic feet for standard quality gas delivered on an interruptible basis.
