Circumpacific Energy has a 12.5% working interest in the new well that has been spudded and named Para Kakwa 8-17, Drillsearch said on Friday.
The well will be drilled to 1,711 metres, including 952m sub-sea.
The work will further test the Cardium zone offsetting the discovery made by Circumpacific in the Para Kakwa 10-9 well drilled earlier this year, Drillsearch said.
The 10-9 and two other wells are complete and connected to the pipeline at Kakwa, producing from several intervals in the Cardium zone.
Drillsearch said is also preparing to participate in two oil development wells at another unnamed Canadian property.
Drillsearch, through Circumpacific, has a 12.5% working interest in all current wells.
